'98 GMC Suburban won't start, help please!?

I already changed the gas filter, before changing it was there something I need to check, or after? Reason is because the Suburban still won't start and I need help, I thought it may be the Electric Fuel Chip but I don't know where that is placed either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.
Okay, I already changed my gas filter and I tried starting the suburban but it didn't start, I think it may be the electric gas chip or fuse that doesn't work or helps inject fuel.
The electric gas chip that I'm talking about is what basically tells the fuel pump to inject fuel and I think that is the problem.

are you getting any gas to the carb/injecter? if you are then check for fireing from the spark plug wire if no fireing then it is the coil...some people doesnt think about checking it before doing anything
