My Jimmy is making this awful noise whenever it is under low idle or stopped. It seems to be getting louder and more obnoxious as it gets warmer and more humid. I'm not sure how to describe the sound but it sounds like a belt. It is making a squeaky/screeching noise. It also sounds like something is rattling around at the same time.
I have changed the serpentine belt thinking that was then problem, but the sound, sadly, still remains.
Is anyone out here having or have had similar things happen to their '98 Jimmy? Help!

Sounds like you may have a idler or tension pulley going bad. Inspect both your idler and tension pulley and replace them before they fail if there bad. You can remove the serpentine belt and run the engine for a few minute and see if the noise your describing is gone.

If the noise is gone, then inspect the pulleys and turn them by hand and feel for any hesitation or play in them. If you do fine any hesitation or play to the pulley, then the bearing has gone bad and will need to be replaced.

Most case, your going to have to replace the whole pulley with the new bearing in them as there sold that way. If money is tight, then you can just order the bearing and have the old ones pressed out and new ones pressed back in.

Keep us posted and stay safe
