Hey there I hope you all can help. I have 99 Jimmy 4.3. This thing is driving me crazy it will run fine. Then stop it come back to it will not start. I know it is getting fire use a little starting fluid trys to start but no start. Come back to it in a day or two starts right up runs fine. Might not have another issue for a couple of weeks then the same thing again. I plan on changing the fuel pump this week but want to douple check if I might be missing something. I have just never seen a fulel pump work when it wants too. Can they be fine one day then not the next? Thanks for your help in advance.

Step one, put a fuel pressure gauge on the test port when you having this problem to see what pressure readings that you are getting.

If low then I would check your pump ground, if you have a high resistance connection this could cause these types of symtoms, as this resistance value will change day by day depending on humidity.

The other is to c/o fuel filter first to see if you have any improvment to your fuel pressure readings.

Start with the simple as smoky has mentioned, the fuel filter is on the driver's side on the inside frame rails by the drivers door.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)
