99 jimmy 4wd switch help

hey guys i just picked up a 99 jimmy and the 4wd switch lights stay lit. no 'service 4wd' light, no noises, nothing. i tried searching but all the posts i see are for no lights on switch. the one post i did find never gave a fix.

4WD switch

My 2001 Jimmy would stay in "auto 4wd" with a check 4wd light until I unhooked the battery to reset it. It would be OK in 2wd mode unless I hit any 4wd option and the problem was back.
After studying this forum it seemed that a lot of these issues were due to bad solder connections in the 4wd switch. I re-soldered the connections and...no help.
I found a new switch (Dorman 901-060 Chevrolet/GMC/Oldsmobile 4WD Switch) on Amazon for only $16.22 and free Prime shipping. At that price I didn't mind taking a chance. My 4wd now works perfectly!
I don't know if it is the same switch for your '99 but it may be worth looking into.
Or if you have a pick-a-part type junkyard near you it is easy enough to remove the switch. You have the risk of getting another bad part but I just bought a similar switch (rear wiper, hatch release) and the cost was only $3.

its the 4wd switch

the 4wd switches go bad in the Jimmy's for some reason. Just purchase a new switch and you'll be golden I had to replace it in my 2001 jimmy. They're pretty cheap too. fyi if that doesn't do it then try replacing the 4wd actuator switch too ... best of luck to ya
