Hello Guys, I have a 1998 Z71, when i apply the brakes the ABS system kicks in. A friend said i could pull the ABS fuse until i can replace the sensors. One problem is my friend didn't say where the ABS fuse or Regulator is located, all he said it was under the hood and in a black box. When i looked under the hood,I see about three black boxs. The question i have is where is the ABS fuse or regulator located... :Any help would be appricated

not the fuse don't waste your time. Tell us when the abs comes on and what speed. sounds like a easy fix but need more info.

hey Happy 2011, thanks for responding.. The abs kicks in when i apply the brake to stop at a light or stop sign. It doesn't do it all the time. I'd say it happens 7 out of 10 times. Sometimes the brake pedal gets real hard.. I bought this 98 GMC about 3 weeks ago.

hope this is helpfull

There has been a recall on the ABS wheel speed sensors. Replacing the sensors wont help if there not broken, the problem is prob the wheel bearing housing do to rust. You can google the fix but is goes something like this. Remove wheels, calipers and rotors then sensor. be careful they can brake when rusted in. Using a fine tooth file grind the mateing surface a few thousands of a in. and primer and paint to prevent more rust. Re-install and done. The idea is to lower the sensor back to oem specs because the rust is pushing it up to far. good luck

yes sounds like this is your problem as what i thought was going to be. This is the fix but make sure you get the wheel bearing surfice flat! very inportant.

Thanks guys, i'll give it a try and let you know...
