2001 GMC Duramax 6.6 diesel - runs fine as long as I gently ramp up the speed. If I put my foot into it and exceed 2200 rpm it acts like there is a governor on it. Fuel filter has been changed. On the freeway if doing 55 +/- and drop it into 5th using the gas peddle, it gets to 63 mph and hangs until I let off the gas. A note from a fellow member reported:
My local mechanic discovered the problem, I don't know exactly where under the hood they're located. He showed me the relays, they were both in the same case (about 6"x3"x1") and were packed in a white grease that acted as a coolant - the relays had gotten so hot that this grease was burn't to a dark brown before they failed. My mechanic told me that these two relays sent a signal to the trucks computer which in turn controlled fuel flow to the engine.
Does anyone have any experience on this issue. Already had it to the dealer several times. I'd like some more info on these relays. Thanks to all in advance.
