I have a 2007 Envoy 4.2, I just replaced the alternator but I don't like the readings I'm getting. When i start the it the voltage goes up to 15.6 for about a minute or two then drops down to 14.2. Once it drops back down to 14.2 it will stay there till I restart again. I've been told that this is normal for this car. Can use any help out there.

It may be the voltage regulator inside the Alternator that is causing the high output number The starter is the biggest load in the battery and the alternator replaces that voltage Then it levels out Hope that helpsI have a 2007 Envoy 4.2, I just replaced the alternator but I don't like the readings I'm getting.
