I bought my 2005 gmc envoy xl slt a year ago. It now has 88k miles on it. Since I've had it I've had to put new brakes and rotors all around, thermostat, water pump, regulator box for passenger window, and ball joints.
I don't know a lot about cars or trucks so some of repairs seemed reasonable, but like I said I don't know what's unusual for these trucks and what's common and that's why I started this thread.
Right now something's wrong with the a/c. They recharged it and checked it for leaks, but they didn't find any leaks. It's working good right now, but if it stops blowing cold air again then they said they would have to take it apart to find the problem, which can be very costly. Or he said the leak could be very small and hard to find at this time. But I really hope it just keeps working.
Another thing wrong is my driver side seat heater seater. The back works but not the seat. I haven't even asked about that.
And last but definitely not least the 4x4. It will drive in four wheel drive but as soon as your over 10-15mph it starts making a screeching grinding noise and I can feel it in the peddle, like a vibration. So I'm stuck driving it in 2wd, rear of course and winters coming up again.
So my question is. Is any of this stuff common among these trucks? Is there anything else I should know? Like what should I look for? Any special maintenance I should be doing on it, especially pertaining to 4x4 or transmission stuff/flushes? Besides the basics like oil changes, and stuff. I do know something's. Haha!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know anyone I can trust with honest advice. I don't have a lot of money, but I want to take of my truck, I need it to last. Thank you!
