Hey guys i have a 2001 GMC Sierra. It only has 120000 miles on it and here recently i have noticed that when i drive over 58-60 mph my whole truck shakes. I dont know if it really is the whole truck but it sure feels like it. My steering wheel shakes as well. Its bad enough where i have to slow down just to feel safe. Also i feel like my engine is running badly. It idles weird and accelerates a lot worse than when i bought it. Ive looked on the internet and maybe the problems are caused of bad spark plugs? Or the drive shaft is unbalanced or i need to re balance my tires. A lot of things to look for. I would like any info that i could get on this matter

First take it to a reputable tire shop and have them doing a spin balance of all the tires, then let us know if the problem continues. More than likely is a problem with one or more of the wheels, or the tires.

Well I took it to auto zone and turns out i had a bad TPS(Throttle Position Sensor). I got a new one and replaced it today and it fixed the acceleration and shifting problem. Still gotta take it aboove 60 to see if it still shakes though

in my opinion from past experience, it could depend on ur balance of your tires but also your tires could be bad to. it can vary from bein stock street tires to mud tires. i would check the balance of the tires first and ask to check the tires out.

I got them balanced today and it seemed to fix the problem :) But i think my shocks are bad now :/

Check your wheel allignment.

I recently replaced my rack and pinion, shocks, tie rod ends, end links and sway bar bushings all at once. Although I installed the new rack and tie rod ends as a complete unit, and counted the number of turns, the vehicle still had a wobbly-shake to it right arround 60 mph. Many people said to ballance the tires, but after I did the allignment, the vehicle is running smoothly. I call my 02 ext cab Sierra my "Couch-On-Wheels" :):)

Haha thats what i want. Ill have to do that sometime soon. Unfortunately i just keep noticing little things that anger me about my truck. Im just to picky

I did it all at once. It's cheaper/better in the long run. I wish I would have had more money to do the control arm bushings, and get better shocks; I settled for Sensa Tracs:(
