I need to replace my ball joints and I want to do it myself, I'm trying to expand my mechanical abilities lol. It's on a 2000 2.2l rwd. I however have never done ball joints before and someone told me they might need to be pressed, is this true? I also don't know if I have upper and lower ball joints and how many of each I will need. Any help would be appreciated!

I just did the upper and lower ball joints on my '98 2.2 RWD and while the lower ones do not need to be "pressed out" per say, in order to get the new ones seated properly you need to take the lower control arm off and have them pressed in.

Your truck will have upper and lower ball joints and you will require one of each per side.

Thanks for the info, I'm ordering parts and hopefully I'll be starting next week sometime. A friend of mine said he could help me if they needed to be pressed so I'm not too worried anymore
