On my '07 Sierra SLT K1500, I have added a second battery to power things in the box and trailer, such as a small cooler, trailer battery, etc (max draw 30A).

Normally, Stud 1 (Position 70) of the Underhood Fuse Block feeds power for this accessory wire. I have rerouted this feed so that instead of drawing accessory power from Stud 1, power is drawn directly from the 2nd battery and the 2nd battery is charged via Stud 1.

For the last couple of years I have had a manual switch between Stud 1 and the 2nd battery, but to make things easier, I bought a Tekonsha battery isolator (solenoid) to replace the manual switch.

To complete the functionality of the battery isolator, I need to add a wire that is hot when the ignition is on. This is my dilemma!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

As a side note, I also have a Tekonsha electric brake accuator and recently had my heated w/s washer system removed per Recall Campaign #: 2010153.

I am very new to this forum, migh thee be a GMC support reps that monitors this forum?

well i would hook this wire up to a relay if it was me. Have the relay control the battery isolator. Then can wire it so a ground turns on the relay when the tk starts. you vcould use the day time running light relay ground.
