best spark plug

I have a 2004 GMC 3500 cab/chassis/dump with the 6.0 motor with 39,000 miles.The truck has performed nearly perfectly and is spotless clean.Even though the "recommended" is 100,000 mi.I feel it is time to change the plugs.Snow plowing/age of truck has me a bit Leary to wait any longer.

My question is...do I use AC (stock) plugs or go with the platinum or similar type plugs? What brand is best?

The stock AC Delco Platinum Plugs, that are in there now. You never had issues with them this long, why change to a different brand now???

I was not aware that they used platinum plugs in 2004;I just through it out there to see if there were any superior plug to factory.Stock parts are not always the best!

Actually they were using Iridium's by 2004 as Platinum was being phased out in production vehicles. I know for a fact my 2004 Sierra PU with 5.3L engine come with Iridium's and there was a service bulletin out that said to replace platinum plugs in prior models with the new Iridium's.

Stick with the AC Delco's and avoid the gimmick spark plugs.

A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01 mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.
