I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with Bluetooth. I recently purchased a GPS and a wireless backup camera to go with it. My problem is (I believe anyway) that the Bluetooth (or maybe the OnStar) interferes with my wireless camera. The camera works fine if I put my GPS in another vehicle, then start my Sierra and put it in reverse. If I move the GPS back to my truck the GPS has problems pickup up the signal from the camera so it goes on then goes off, then on then off.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? I've been in contact with support from the manufacturer of the GPS and Camera but so far they've been unable to help me. I want to verify that it is actually the Bluetooth causing me the problem, does anyone know which fuse the Bluetooth is on so I can try pulling it to see if that is indeed the problem?

I went through the owners manual and searched the web but so far no luck finding which fuse it is, or if there is a solution to my problem. I tried moving the camera transmitter closer to the front of the truck, and right now it is at the front corner of the box, only about 5' from the GPS and I still have the problem.

Thanks

Eldon

Hi Jennifer,

Do you know which fuse number is for the Bluetooth? I would like to pull the fuse and try my GPS without the Bluetooth working so that I can say for sure that it is the Bluetooth giving me the problem. The GPS manufacturer support recognizes that there is a problem but doesn't have a solution to the problem.

Thanks

Eldon

Bluetooth terrible

People cannot understand what we say when using our bluetooth on our 2012 Sierra. The quality is terrible. I have read online that if you talk thru Onstar, the quality is superior. We need to be able to use bluetooth, and we refuse to be held hostage by Onstar. Is there a way to correct this situation?

vickisconnor,

I am sorry you are experiencing an issue with your Bluetooth. I see that your vehicle is a 2012, what is your current mileage? Depending on your mileage, you may still be under your Bumper to Bumper warranty. Have you have taken your Sierra to a dealer to address this issue?

Thanks! :)

We are currently out of town. We will call Randy Hosler on Monday, and speak to service. Is it possible to have the Onstar system totally disabled, so that the bluetooth issue can be corrected. Internet research is pretty clear. If you pay for Onstar, this isn't an issue. We need bluetooth for our trip and we are very disapppointed that this feature is terrible on this vehicle.

We are now back in Michigan and our dealership tells us there are no known issues with bluetooth for our 2012 Sierra. Can you please give me the fix available for our bluetooth problem?

Vickisconnor,

I understand that you did go to the dealer and the issue is not resolved. I would like to look into this for you. Please private message me the details including your full name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and the dealer that you visited.

Thank you,

Bluetooth Noise

Hi Jennifer,

Do you have a resolution for this issue. My husbands truck is doing the same thing and they have even replaced the microphone but that doesn't help. They are saying they don't have a fix.

Jennifer, do you have a fix for this? My husbands bluetooth is terrible. He brought it into the dealship and they replaced it but that didn't fix anything. They are saying they don't have a fix. Do you have one?

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500, extended cab 4 door. Great truck so far, but the bluetooth has never worked well from the transmission and receiving stand part since purchase. I have a hard time understanding incoming calls and the receiving party can barely understand my communications. I have paired several different phones with no significant difference.

Any help!!!!

Hello Iceburg,

I am glad to hear that you are satisfied with the truck so far! I do see that you are having a concern with your Bluetooth since you have purchased it though. Have you spoken to a GMC dealership about this and had them look further into this concern? If you would like any assistance in setting up an appointment and working with the dealership, please feel free to private message with your name, contact info, VIN, mileage, and preferred dealership. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Hi Jeffrey,

I've documented your contact information within our system. In order to protect your personal information we do suggest deleting your post. We've researched your VIN and there are no open service announcements describing the issue you've encountered with your Bluetooth. If you can provide us with your availability we can work on contacting your dealership to set up a time for you to go in.

Amber:

Would like to deleting the post but the web site, moving around and controlling the text is not very easy!

Didn't notice that the GM "hands-free" thing stopped working months ago. I am running a 2009 Sierra ex cab with On-Star enabled and didn't notice that it stopped working months ago also until I went on an extended trip and saw that red/green light on the mirror that happened to correspond with my Samsung phone flipping between "blue-tooth on-off". So that lead me first to On-Star and after getting beyond the first junk-yard dog I got connected to a very nice lady that tried everything in the book. Conclusion was to head to the GM dealer. I had seen a GM service bulletin advising that the diagonstic check should be .40 hours. After waiting 2 hours I was presented a bill for $140 to do the testing that only told me what I knew. I'll append this story in a few minutes.
