Buying my gmc was a big mistake

so here the story..
2011 GMC 1500 sierra 5.3 motor 6 speed trans.
At 3k miles had a check engine light on. They could not fix it told me to drive it. Took it in 3 times and still check engine light on with a 521 code (oil pressure / Circuit problem)

Now on the fourth try they find out the motors full of medal from the main bearing. So needs a motor.
They pull the motor and GM (not the dealer) says to rebuild the motor (only 5 k on my 2011 tk)

So i don't want a rebuild motor in my 30k tk and i call GM and bit ch about it and was told tuff thats the way it is.

so now i'm pissed off and am looking in to the lewon law so they can buy my tk back so i can go buy a ford.

Now don't get me wrong i love my tk but why should i have a rebuild motor in my brand new tk (four months old)

GM should give me back 5k becaues if i was to sell this tk and told people it was a rebuild motor i would have to discount the tk to sell it.

Let the war begin with the lemon law.

Also while i was at the dealer there was another tk with 1800 miles on it with the same problem.

so who thinks that a rebuild is ok and who thinks that it should get a brand new motor.

Keep in mind they don't even know why my main bearing went bad.

I would say let them rebuild it and if that doesn't fix the problem then replace it with a new motor. IMHO.

Buying a 99' Jimmy was my biggest mistake. There's always something wrong with it.

I vote for the new motor and hope you're able to get it. Of course there are plenty of exceptions, but the rebuilds I've seen don't have the life of a new engine. I hope it turns out well for you.

You are not going to get anywhere with a lemon law because they are fixing your vehicle and you are the one not wanting them to do that by demanding money and a new engine. Lemons laws pertain to vehicles that the dealer or the oem cannot fix.


Let them fix it. Its not the end of the world. It still will be under warranty for 5 yr or 100,000 miles so what do you have to lose? Live life, its only a hunk of metal.

Heck you never know, they may end up putting a new motor in anyway.......
