Heater Core
Stop leak probably won't work and could mess-up your engine too.
Are you topping off your coolant reservoir from time to time? If so, this just confirms the leak you already have.
You can't feel the antifreeze on the carpet because it is under the carpet on the passenger side but you can smell it. If you rub your hand on the carpeting typically you can smell it on your hand too. It's there, it is just under the carpet, which is sort of a bitch to pull up. The carpeting is actually carpeting on top, a rubber type material in the center and then sound deadening jute on the bottom.
As a preliminary step, instead of stop leak you can disconnect your heater hoses at the firewall and use a garden house to flush out debris. Run the water both ways. This might eliminate a blockage which is causing added pressure in the system which is causing the slow leak. But it probably won't stop the leak. But it could!
So now it's replace the heater core which is really a bitch of a repair. S10forum.com has a nice write-up on this repair. It just takes a lot of time, patience and broad assortment of tools. Figure a weekend but you save about $750.00. You can do it!!!
