I got a 1997 gmc yukon. i live in the country so i dont need emissions and i wanna know if its safe to eliminate the cats without damaging anything.

Your check engine light will come on and your engine will run a open loop. that would mean that your engine will run on a preset program on the PCM and not from inputs for your O2 sensors or other sensors to keep the engine running.

This will cause you a short maintenance interval time, this will most likely run your engine on a lean condition shorting the life of your spark plugs and other essential components like burning out your intake and exhaust valve:eek:
