08 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500

I had a shop change the stock 3:40 gears to 4:10
and now my speedo is way off with 33" tall tires
65 mph on the Garmin The speedo shows 80mph
I have the Edge programmer trying to figure out how to change the set up in the gears to see makes a diff

Anyone done this
Thanks for any info

So got the Edge programmer set up
33" tires and 4:10 gears and it didnt change but maybe 2 mph's to the good
I'm going to play with it some more and see if I go up on tire size if it will help

Just some info with the Garmin speed at 75 mph the tach shows 2400 rpms
Before the gear change it was 2000 rmps at 80 mph
If anyone is thinking of going this rout
The truck does pull a lot harder with less throttle

Got it all working
The Edge Evaluation was not installing the gear ratio into the ecm
I got on the phone with Edge tech support
Talked to Mike and he walked me though the process
It would still not install
He had me put it back to factory settings

Had me go inside with the power programmer to my pc and directed me to a web address
He walked me through the site
Then had me plug the Power programmer into the pc
He had a software to install into the programmer
After that was all done Took about 10 minutes
He had me go plug it back into the truck and set everything up
and install the tow package with out loading the gear ratio
Then after it all loaded he had me reload the gear ratio

It works now Speedo is correct
Mike at Egde is very good at what he does

If there ever comes a time that I get any power programmer it will be Edge

If the speedometer is not re programmable by the dealer then you are stuck. If the transmission has a speedometer gear set then you should be able to get new gears. I assumed you knew that you would have this issue when you changed the gear ratio.

I got it all fixed
The Edge Programmer was not installing the 4;10 ratio into the the ecm
I called Edge tech support and they walked me through it
The speedo is working correct now

usually when its all changed did u change everythign in the program? usually they have tire size rim size and gear ratio. if it is still off something else is broken maybe the needles are off on the cluster or something other then that you are on the right track

The truck only has the 4.8 in it
It was gutless and for the price I got the truck for it was worth
putting the gears in { found out it has a possi in rear didn't know that }

As soon as the gears get broken in I will hook a trailer to it and see how it pulls the hills
The shop says it takes 500 miles to brake the gears in
I never heard of this but its what I'm going to do
The shop only does rear end gears so they should know

when you swapped gears it didn't happen to throw the brake light and abs light did it? i done that same swap and now my 2 lights are on!

The 500 miles are up and towed my trailer with 4 quads
This weekend up some pretty steep grades
It was so worth the change
The trip was way better then before
The truck could pull the grade much better with out down shifting so much
I used the tow/haul on
The hills I used to do at 50 I can now do at 65 with no problem
probably faster if wanted
The fuel mileage seems to be at 1 gallon per mile less
All in All I'm very happy with the set up
