Cleaning engine compartment

Just wondering if it's ok to hit the engine compartment with a foam gun and hose it off. Am I likely to cause any issues by doing this?

i always keep my engine compartment clean, hose the engine almost everytime time i wash the truck
i am going to do engine work on my truck this weekend, so last weekend took my truck to the doityourself car wash
used high pressure hose on it, no problems
in the old days i would always get water in the distributor and have to spray it with WD40
