My truck is making some kind of clicking noise from the rear when pulling away from a stop. I thought it might be the driveshaft U joints but they feel tight. The rear differential doesn't have drain plugs (or I haven't found them) to check fluid level. The noise goes click, click click and matches road speed. The noise stops at about 15 MPH. Ebrake maybe? Tranny or transfer case? Where to look? Pulling away very easily and no noise. 113K miles

Could be a lot of things. Impossible to be sure from your description, but my money is on u-joints. The fact that they feel tight means nothing. You have to remove the driveshaft and see how they feel off the vehicle. If they feel at all stiff or dry, replace them.

Did you fix it? I have the exact same thing happening on my 2000 sls 4x4. figured it might be ujoints. pretty easy to do.

anyways...I replaced my rear ujoint, and it fixed it! Once off I saw there was no grease inside one of the caps, which makes the clicking/squeaking noise..
