1996 jimmy 4wd, when i hit bumps on the road i hear a clucking noise in the front end. I changed the shock and the upper ball joints and bushings. I haven't changed the lower yet. ( haven't had the time ). I can't tell where its coming from but can the lower ball joint be making the noise? It sounds like it might be coming from there.

Thanks, Larry

Check your hood bushings, common for the hood bushing that is worn causes the hinges to make contact with each other.

Found out to be the lower ball joint, for those of you that want to know. Thanks

The easiest way to find out if it is the ball joints is to make turns, at slow and a bit faster speeds, tighter and wider turns.

If you get clunking (like I did), yes, it was the ball joints. And mechanic said that on those you should always replace upper and lower ones, if not, he could not guarantee that clunking noise will go away.

Had them changed, no more noise.

Greetings!
