coolant temp sensor shorts out in hot weather

Hello all I am stressing out hope someone can help. I have a 2004 GMC sierra SLE 4.8 L v8 every time the weather is over 90 degrees outside my coolant temp sensor shorts out. I have taken it to the dealer and they say they can't find the problem. I have replaced the sensor 3 times this year other items I have changed are the mas air flow sensor and the thermostat and the connector to the coolant sensor and I still the same problem any ideas

what happens when it shorts out? and how do you know it's shorted

when the sensor shorts out the truck starts to sputter and it wants to shut down. So what I do is replace the sensor and everything is back to normal but keep in mind the funny thing is that it only does it when it is hot outside and we only get about 2 to 3 weeks of really hot weather

so do you have a way to look at the data stream and see what it is saying/reading for a temp?

No I don't have a way of reading the data.. What would be the easiest way to do that?

go to sears and buy the one hundred dollar code/date reader.
