I am having an issue with power on my cigarette lighter/ power socket. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500.
When I forget to unplug my dash cam and let my truck stay parked for several days, I come back to a completely dead battery.
I would have hoped that when the voltage at the cigarette lighter dropped below a voltage that would still allow starting the engine that the socket would disconnect and save the system.
This has happened multiple times. It is quite irritating.
If the truck is not capable of handling this problem, I am thinking of adding a circuit to disconnect the socket either by time or a relay. I am hoping for some good suggestions!!

Check YouTube. There's a posting for how to realign the involved fuse that eliminates power always on. PM me if you can't find it.

I was able to look on YouTube and find the answer. In the right hand side fuse panel there is a fifty amp fusible link that has two positions. One is battery and one is ignition. It does affect multiple circuits, but I am ok with that. Thanks

Facebook. This is the picture of the Fusible link that I moved
Facebook. This is the schematic of the fusible link. It was in the F11DL position and I moved it to the F10DL position. It would have been nice if there was a reference in the book about this option. This affects everything serviced be F1DL and F12DL.
