I bought an old 99 gmc jimmy (envoy) for my wife last year, and it has been nothing but trouble. It only has 95k miles on it, but I’ve had to replace a number of parts, especially revolving around the coolant system. Now I have a newly developed issue with a coolant leak coming from somewhere on the front of the engine. My first thought was water pump gaskets, but I just changed those and made sure to seal them well, in addition to following torque specs. I was wondering if the intake manifold gasket would leak in the same manner, around the same location or if anyone else has had issues with the intake manifold gaskets giving out. The source looks to be right up there between where the thermostat sits, and the water pump. Any info would help.

We recently had a coolant issue as well. Originally we knew that there was a tiny leak in the system but nobody could isolate where it was, so we had to drive until it opened up wider. Unfortunately for us, the coolant system completely blew at that time, however I believe it was a failure in one of the hoses. Specifically, if I remember correctly, it was the upper radiator hose. If you haven't checked your hoses, that's an absolute must. In your case, considering its location, I'm also inclined to suspect the lower radiator hose as a suspect but you can never be sure. Even if you find a fault in one hose, make sure you double check your other hoses, as from what I hear the original hoses that came with these engines are prone to failure as they age.
