Bought an 02 Sonoma 4wheel drive 4.3 a month ago. has been flawless. Wife just got home from work this morning and an hour later i go to leave and it wont start. Cranks over, but doesnt hit a lick. Any ideas?

An issue with the fuel delivery system came to my mind 1st as I read
posts that start out with " cranks but wont start but it
just did a minute ago " and the problem was along those lines .
( pump , filter , relay , fuel pressure , it's out of gas )

Search the ( jimmy ? ) forum for similar posts , you should find what
to look and listen for .

well if it's still not starting have your wife crank it while you hit the gas tank with a hammer or block of wood. If it starts then you know what you need.

Thats exactly what i did. And it fired right up. Im hoping to drive the full tank of gas out of it before i start in on it. Would you suggest dropping tank or lifting the bed?
And thanks for the advice.

It started up after using your advice. The removal and replace was really not a problem. But even after market companies are awful proud of the replacements. The cheapest i could find was $279.00. GM and there infinite wisdom

Just had the same issue. Stopped the truck to wash, then it wouldn't fire back up. Kicked the fuel tank, and she fired away.
Before I start to tear down, would you say that it's a wire, fuse, pump, etc?

It's not the fuel pump of old. They rob you by combining sending unit, and fuel pump. Plus you have to "retro fit" the wires on the new pump/sending unit. Turns a 70 dollar part into a 300 dollar part.

The new connector is probably the main reason the old pumps are going out. They are very poor quality and create more curent drop thorugh them causing the pump motors to have to work harder than they should. GMC should have offered a free replacement of the connector before the pumps go out.
