I just purchased a 2010 Sierra about 2 months ago, after having a Ford for 15 years, and over the last 3 weeks I have noticed a creaking sound coming form the front left side of the truck, like right beneath my left foot.

It only makes the sound when at low speeds and turning, like pulling out of a parking spot or turning from a stop sign. The truck drives perfectly smooth and straight. I did notice my running board has a slight noise to it when I step on it but can't tell if it is the same noise while in my truck.

Any thoughts???

If you would like to send me a personal message with your VIN, I can ask our TAC team and they can look further into your vehicle situation. Let me know! Thank you.

I also own a 2008 1500 4 door and the body or frame creaks and snaps mostly when I have 4 people in it. I've checked tightness in all the nerf bars and everything else. short of retightening all the body bolts and spring shackles I can't think of anything to do. It is very embarrassing when my passengers ask, "Man is the body going to fall off this rig!!" I guess I just have to live with it

My 07 new body style Sierra does it too. It didn't start until I put nerf bars on the truck. If you spray the body bolts and bushings with some WD40 it will stop/quiet the creek for a while. I have to respray every few months tho.

I have the same issue with my 2010. There's a bulletin on it regarding the body mounts. They need to have an insulator installed. I had one of the dealerships here do it, and it did not fix the issue. Been to the dealership 4 times and I always get the same excuse that they can not duplicate the noise.. funny how i hear it as soon as I drive away. I am not impressed with GM's service regarding this issue. Look it up, some people have luck with the insulators.. others end up putting better aftermarket body mounts on. Owned my truck since June... been to the dealer for 6-7 issues.. UNREAL!

Sorry to hear you've had so many trips into your dealer latreille89. Have you ever spoken with our Customer Assistance team to see what we can do to try and get this resolved for you? If you'd like me to get a case started for you send me your contact information and I should have that for you soon after I receive your message.

Hi Jeff,

I would like to get this resolved but I am just tired of going to the dealer since I've been to two different dealers and get the same story. One dealer apparently installed the insulators on all 3 body mounts on the drivers side, I find this hard to believe this the bolts looked like they were never touched (had the truck undercoated before it went there). Could you send me a PM so i can reply with all my information and discuss this further with you.

The creak is due to the nerf mount rubbing the body mount pocket when under stress. If you would remove the body mount bolts and insert thick washers to space the nerf brackets away from the body mount pockets and then re-torque the bolts to 63 lb/ft, the noise should be gone. I know it may look like there is no contact, but under stress, there may be. Been there, done that.
