Just purchased a New 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with Dual Zone Climate Control. I am having a problem with the Defog/Defrost. In the morning, the windows are fogged over from the cool and humid weather. The Defog/Defrost will only clear the Driver's side of the windshield and side window. Had the truck in for service today and was told that it is working properly. Dealer even checked out two other vehicles, they even called Tech. Support with no true answer or advise. Cannot operate with only half a clear windshield and a fogged over passenger side window. Is anyone else having this problem and what is the fix?

take it back to the dealer. They have a updated program for the hvac system they will take care of that.

Thank you for your reply. Have contacted GMC and waiting for the District Rep. to get back to me in the next 48 hours. I will mention this to them.

Defrost intermittent

I too am having issues with my defrost in my 2012 GMC Sierra Crew Cab, SLE. It seems to work intermittently and as the last person, works great on the drivers side. I typically have the dual climate control shutoff because I think its pointless, but I tried turning it on and adjusting the temp to no avail. The passenger side blows cold when set at 80, while the drivers side blows hot and clears nicely. On my short ten minute commute last week it would blow warm and clear the passenger side, then blow cold for a minute and fog it over again, then back to warm and clear. Think I may mention this when I take it in for service soon, but they will most likely tell me that they didn't find anything wrong. :(

Well here you go. You need to read this posting form another Silverado/Sierra website; http://www.silveradosierra.com/climate-control/windshield-defogging-issues-t16288.html

I have had my truck to another dealer and was told that nothing was found wrong. They were going to try changing the ducting. When the duct came in, they elected not, as the whole dash would have to be removed to the windshield. Once again, GM Engineers are saying that this is how the system is designed. Truck is still not safe to operate in condition. I guess I will return for a third time.

Defroster is does not work properly

Just updating; The truck has been back to the dealer(s) for a third visit. Receive a call last week and stopped by the dealer. Their new find was a TSB that was brought to their attention on the second visit. They checked out the truck again and so-called doing the TSB. Truck returned for the third time to try out. Well, yesterday and today it was in the fifties during the morning hours and of course the defroster was only clearing the Driver's side. No air flow coming from the Passenger side of the windshield vent and no flow from the small vent for the side window. GMC will not return my calls or keep playing telephone tag with always a different agent. Customer safety to GMC must be "NUMBER NONE"

2012 GMC Sierra Hybrid Defroster Issues

This past January (2013) I purchased a 2012 Sierra Hybrid (4x4, crew cab) in Virginia. I now live in Florida and every morning the defroster does the exact same thing ... only defogs half the windshield. I end up rolling the windows down to try to balance the inside temp/humidity with the outside in order for the windshield to clear. Like you pointed out, I also found this link ( http://gmcowners.com/gmc-forum/showthread.php?t=20165&highlight=defroster ) that really seems to nail down the problem. I'll be calling my local dealer later today to have this corrected as the vehicle is still under warranty.
