I have a 1998 gmc sierra 1500, anyways my radiator cap has sludge in it.I heard that this is a common thing with dex cool however will this sludge harm my engine? I flushed and filled my cooling system about one month ago,and sludge is beginning to form again. What can i do about this??

Why GM is forcing dexcool on owners is beyond me. Can you imagine what the inside of the cooling system looks like? On mine; I drained it, flushed with fast flush, flushed with water, and then replaced the fluid with super tech (walmart) "mix with any color" antifreeze. It operates and cools just fine.

I've heard that the plain yellow coolant is a good alternative to dex cool. You may want to try it.
