Bought a 1999 GMC Sonoma and it has a lot of problems. Are these trucks considered lemmons?

I have a 1999 Sonoma SL It has the vortec 4.3L in it. To date, the only major thing wrong with it, was the water pump needed changing. I have over 152,000 miles on mine.

Major problem on the Sonoma was the secondary Air injection system blowing fuse or burning out, but yours being a 99 should have had the upgraded system by now. it's located under the battery box and was prone to collecting water which freezes in the winter causing the pump to burn out. Other then that, just warm the engine up before getting hard on the gas to ensure you will not break the gasket seal between the heads and intake platinum. The intake is plastic and the heads are iron which both have different expansion rate causing the gaskets to fail if the engine is pushed to hard when still cold. The transmission is a 4L60E and the boost valve should be replaced every 60,000 miles the same time the transmission should be serviced, it's only a $45,00 part and takes 3 min to replace. As the boost valve spring weakens due to heat and time the transmission line pressure causing the transmission to slip between gear shifts. Good luck and this should help. >>>356,000 miles on my 96 jimmy
