Hi,

I have a 1994 Sierra 4.3 L V6 1500 2WD and have purchased a distributor cap for replacement.

I would like to do this myself so I was wondering if there are any directions that anyone could point me to assist in this maintenance. I have some diagrams on the firing order and cylinder numbering schemes but anything additional and detailed would be preferred.

Thanks.

Make sure the parts you have are AC Delco and not some cheap far east parts. Too many of them are terrible and cause many problems.

To change the cap and wires. Take off the old cap and set it aside BUT DO NOT REMOVE any wires. Place the new cap on the distributor and fasten it down. Mark a starting point with some masking tape on the old and new distributor caps. Now one at a time, transfer the plug wires from the old cap to the the same location on the new cap being careful to not pull or tug on the wires as they are fragile. It might also be a good time to replace all the spark plugs wires with genuine AC Delco wires. Again, replace one at a time.

If you do this slow and methodical you should have no problems.
