I have an '09 Acadia SLT all wheel drive with a 3.6 The car is an absolute gem I've had it since I've had it for about 5 months when I got the car the gentleman I bought it from explain to me that it had a fuel injector that was stuck open The very well possibly be a camshaft position sensor that was possibly going bad so I changed the fuel injectors and spark plug and it was fine for a while and then after about 2 months I started having a problem wear it when I would go out if I would like leave the doors open or anything like that but a long time the battery would go dead.

I was crank it and it wouldn't start and I could usually get a jump and then get on about my business after a while though the the jumping wasn't working anything like that so I assume immediately they might be the battery so change the battery still having a problem and so I change the alternator and after that I was pulling a code for p0017 which is the camshaft positioning sensor in the number one position

so I tore it down and since I was already there I changed all four of the camshaft position senses as well as the crankshaft positioning sensor as they work together still nothing when I turn the key it sounds like it it turns over turns over turns over but doesn't start so I figured that perhaps the battery that I got because it wasn't brand new I got them in front of it was new or that it was a good battery I tested it it showed that it was good so the car's been sitting for now for about a couple of about over a little over a month and a half or whatever and I've changed The alternator and put all the sensors in

so I'm just not I don't know if I'm not getting enough power to talk to the charger system or does it battery doesn't have enough power to turn it over and also when I got the battery the post was a top post were positioned differently than the original battery so I had to make some adjustments in the battery area by taking the deposit cable that was because it wasn't long enough to reach The negative post so I got it longer wired so I got a longer battery cable for it as well as a terminal and I cleaned everything really good and made sure that there was a good connection

I didn't have to splice anything I just smell them on the back part of the table that attached to the ground to the body of the battery box there I put a ring a crimp the ring onto it and then you know put it right in his property position further ground in that area and deposit cable was fine so now it's when you turn the key clicking click click click nothing I've tried jumping it I tried putting battery boosters on it I tried charging battery overnight so I'm not for sure if the battery I got is no good or or what because I've tested the voltage on the alternator and kept the voltage just to be safe on the starter I test the voltage in the fuse box and I'm getting good readings for the most part I need after it after it cranks and doesn't start for a while then it'll just go completely dead until I you know get a battery booster on it or jump it or something like that you know it'll crank and crank crank but then you after a while when I take the cables off of the battery booster or whatever it doesn't hold the charge or that long so I'm completely at a loss as to what the hell could be possibly going on I'm going to explore the fuses relay next and see what's happening there outside of that I don't know what else to do any ideas

That sounds like a frustrating and confusing situation, and you've clearly gone to great lengths to troubleshoot it. It can be incredibly difficult when multiple issues seem to be happening at the same time. Based on everything you've described, it sounds like you have two separate problems that are intertwined and complicating things.

First, let's address the starting issue. The fact that the engine "cranks and cranks" but doesn't start points to a lack of spark, a lack of fuel, or an air/fuel mixture problem. The P0017 code you were getting is a timing code. The camshaft and crankshaft sensors work together to tell the engine's computer exactly when to fire the spark plugs.1 If they are not in sync, the car will not start.

Since you replaced all of the sensors and the problem persists, it is very likely that the issue is not the sensors themselves, but the mechanical timing of the engine. On the 3.6L V6 in your Acadia, the timing chains can stretch over time.2 This stretching can cause the cam and crank sensors to read an incorrect position, even if the sensors themselves are brand new. If you've been having this issue for a while, it's very possible that the timing chain has stretched enough to cause a "no start" condition.

Second, let's address the battery issue. The fact that the battery won't hold a charge for very long, even after you've charged it and tried to jump it, is a separate problem. The "click click click" sound you're hearing is the solenoid engaging when the battery is too weak to turn the starter.

Even if you have a good voltage reading on a multimeter, it doesn't mean the battery is capable of handling the high amperage draw of turning the starter. The fact that you had to change the battery cables to get them to fit and the battery still won't hold a charge makes me think that you either have a bad battery or a bad connection. You did a good job of cleaning everything, but it's worth double-checking that the crimps are perfect and the terminals are secure.

What you should do is take the battery to an auto parts store and have them do a "load test" on it. This test is different from a simple voltage check and will tell you if the battery can hold a charge under a load.

If the battery checks out, then your problem is very likely a stretched timing chain. This is a very big and expensive job to fix. However, it would explain both the P0017 code and the fact that the car will crank but not start.
