I haven't checked all the threads to see if this has been covered, please bear with me.
My drivers side power rear view mirror was damaged last night. I dont know whether by vandals or by a sideswipe. Basically the housing was broken loose from the fastening studs. That is the only damage. I have it duct-taped on right now. I can buy a new mirror,no problem, I also have a "Wilton" do-it-yourself manual and the replacement procedure is covered. My question is, is it very time-consuming or especially difficult and is there any specific thing to watch out for? Appreciate any and all comments!
Thanks again

Charlie

I had to do mine last year. I am not the most mechanically inclined but it was very easy. Interior door panel comes off, remove 3 screws (you will want a deep socket, 12 or 10mm if I remember) reverse order for install. Maximum 1/2 hour. The hardest part was getting the door panel back on.
Good luck.

P.S.
Do not over tighten screws when installing. The mirrors mounts are only plastic.

If your lazy like i am you can use the windshield urethane to hold the housing back on to the door frame.

Good luck and keep us posted.:D

i needed to replace my mirrors also. I took me longer then 1/2hour. I had to work outside, I don't have a garage, it was freezing. The door panel is hard to take apart, because the plastic is so old and it brakes easy. I had to spent some time at the door opener plastic screen.
To replace the mirror it was easy. I have also the power mirrors and I thought that they aren't moving because they were broken. But the new ones also don't move. Where can I check if my adjustment switch is working?
Where can I buy a new one?

Ok i found at napa the power mirror switch, but they starting at $44. Can I fix it without buying a new one?

Check fuse first. (Does the passenger side work?)
For replacement part go to your local salvage yard.
