My emergency brake cable broke where it attaches to the brake release handle. I was quoted $300 to fix it. That seems a little high, just wondering how hard it is to replace this cable. Or is there a method to reattach it to the handle? It is a 1998 Jimmy 2 WD, four door. Thanks for any help.

Not that hard to replace, takes less then 20 min from start to finish. If the cable is snapped at the end where the butt stopper connector is, you can but just the butt connector at Wal-Mart in there Bike section or any Auto Parts store (Auto Zone). The replacement parking brake release handle with the new cable is $15.00 and about $5.00 at any Salvage Yard. :D

You don't have to remove the parking brake leaver to replace the brake handle release cable.

Here is a link for you with the GM part number to the handle assembly number 12. http://www.compnine.com/index.php?u...delid=6871&capuid=1&majorgroup=04&grouptype=B
