Hi Guys, I'm a noobie here. I recently acquired a 1998 GMC Sonoma 4.3L V-6, automatic. It has been starting and ran with no issues like misfire. New distributor, rotor, and cap. While on the road going about 60 mph the engine just quit. I pulled over and tried a re-start but it won't start. It cranks but no start.

A friend came to help. Fuel pressure is around 60 psi. There is spark from the coil pack. Neg. battery cable at the engine side is well connected. We put fuel in the throttle body still no start. There is no code. Fuses are good. Swap fuel pump relay still no start.

I am focused on the question of why engine suddenly quit while cruising on the highway with no warning like a sputter. My only experience years ago was the Timing Belt broke. My friend told me this trucks has Timing Chain.

Hoping someone can shed light to this issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

Remove the distributor cap, try to start the motor, see if the distributor turns.
A failure of the distributor drive sometimes happens.
It could have jumped timing from chain or distributor drive.

Thanks Imleck for your response. UPDATE: Installed new Igniton Coil but no help. A few times feels it wants to start but won't. As mentioned, distributor, cap and rotor are new from eBay. The problem was the rotor, it broke off so no spark being delivered. By sheer hunch, decided to open distributor cap and discovered the problem. So re-installed the old rotor and Bam! started on first crank. So today ordered Ac Delco rotor and Cap online.
