Envoy electrical/starting issue

2003 Envoy. Problem started a few weeks ago and got worse. Turn the key and the RPM and speedometer go crazy and 2 lights stay on which looks like a seat belt light and an Air bag light? (guy in a seat and what looks like a bag in his face) and the lights flicker on the dash a bit....Anyways. When this happens the engine will just crank and no spark it seems. It's done this about 4-5 times now and usually I play with the key back and forth and eventually the lights go off and once it does it cranks over right away like nothing happened. Today was the day it did not "eventually" go back to normal. Also sometimes a "clicking" sound comes from the center console around the parking brake. Also hear another clicking from a piece sitting on top the engine (will post pictures later) which also only happens sometimes.

UPDATE: I narrowed it down to the remote starter. I can start the vehicle with the remote start. Now when I press the brake it shuts off. So somehow its not detecting my key in the "run" position or something. Once I press the button (remote start) the light/gauge flickering stops and I know it will start (by key or by remote). Now it stops when I press the brake. It won't start normally still and only when I use the remote.

During the last month I am experiencing a related problem with my 2006 Envoy but I do not have remote starting. Several times have had the engine cranking with no spark. Days can pass with this not happening. Almost daily the clock resets to 12:00. Most recently the rear wiper starts and stops while turned off.

I bypassed today and it would still shut down when trying to go in gear. Thinking it was a security issue but in the end it did end up being the ignition switch. I took it out because I also would hold the key or turn it back and forth quick. So this made me take out the switch and when I opened the switch the "run" position switch plate was kind of black. Switched the switch and its running fine again. I was gonna take a picture of the black plated switch but forgot. posting this to help others with this issue. It even made my guages act crazy and its fine now.
