Factory remote start add ons?

I know this question doesnt particularly go with just GMCs but because this is what I happen to own I thought I'd start here. I just purchased my first gmc and it's a 2008 gmc denali. The factory remote start has awful range and it being only a one way remote doesn't help. Are there 2-way remote start add ons or better yet a smart start add on? If there are, are they plug and play or are they just as difficult as installing a full aftermarket remote start?

Had an aftermarket remote start/security put in my old '08 by a local stereo shop. It worked great for the first year then would eventually kill my battery if I did not drive it for a couple weeks. They are only a couple hundred bucks installed. If you are subscribed to OnStar they have an app that allows you to remotely start/lock/panic your vehicle from anywhere. Works slick on my '12 Sierra, especially up in Canada where we get a lot of cold.

Well that news excited me all the way up until I set up my truck with an onstar subscription then pulled up the onstar app and it said my truck wasn't compatible with this feature. It's for 2010+ models only and mine is an 08. I even asked while setting up my subscription if I was going to be able to use this feature and he said yes. So I get onstar for free for 3 months but I immediately cancelled the automatic payment for when the trial ends.
