So ive owned my 1999 GMC Jimmy for about 1.5 years now, and as ive done regular matience on it ive noticed that it has the skid plate over the gas tank and yellow shocks in the rear, i was told that only the ZR2's came with those specific things. but my problem is im runnning 31" tires and they rub up and down in the front while offroading. every sticker on my vehicle with info (door pannel sticker with tire info etc. sticker in glove box, and stickers under hood) has been removed so all i have left is the vin #, how would i go about finding out if my vehicles a true ZR2 or not

Thanks
Joshua

i use to have a skid plate up front, it looked like it was carbon fiber, that clearly didnt last long on the trails though haha, ive read that the ZR2's also had other skid plates but mine only had the 2

My front one is metal. Gas tank plate is a black material. I thought I would tell you because you could have a truck that is not a "Z" and someone has upgraded some parts. ???

If you use a VIN decoder you should be able to come up with the RPO codes for your Jimmy. You can find VIN decoder using Google.

Thanks Smoky and Barks for your help, i used the vin decoder and it said the stock tire size for my vehicle is 235/70/15 and im pretty sure the ZR2's came with 31's? dont quote me on that though haha
