Lower air spoiler removal causes overheat?
The lower air spoiler, which seems to take a beating off and on road can easily be removed. However the dealer tells me that doing so will increase the running temp at low speed.
I just bought an off lease 2007 canyon 4x4 sle without the z71 package and after-market 6 ply off road tires that are not oversize but afford better mud and snow traction than stock car tires that the truck comes with.
SO I intent to actually go fishin with the truck not just use it as a mini mall assault vehicle, like the Simpsons Canyonero
... Essentially I will be doing some low speed driving in the bush.
However because I fish for summer run steelhead or high mountain lakes in cold weather removing the plastic air up deflector...if that is what it really is...should not cause the truck to run too hot.
Anybody out there ever experienced overheating running without the front lower spoiler on a Canyon or a Colorado 4x4 with the 2.9 vortec?
When I bought the truck it looked to me that the spoiler was mostly cosmetic to imitate one of those silly looking chevy Nascar small trucks. NOT an important air intake booster!
