Fuel Gauge Not Working

Just purchased a 1989 Burb. The fuel gauge reads full all the time. As much as I would like to believe that this unit makes its own fuel, I'm afraid that this is not the case. It currently goes from full to extremely full (about to the 15 minute mark when totally full of fuel.)

I have replaced the sending unit on a 1997 1500 pickup. I remember the sending unit being all in one piece. Is this a similar fix with this 1989?

I am not very sure. but i think it is a similar fix with this 1989. i would also suggest you to check with the local technician.

I intalled a new sending unit, and it corrected the problem. With the 89 you can either buy the whole unit or just the fuel pump. I would suggest you replace the whole thing at once, to prevent having to drop it again at a later date.
