I own a 06 Sierra 5.3 SLT. I have ran out of gas twice now with the gauge showing 1/4 tank left.(Gas can -Dont leave home w/o it now)
I have been researching everything thing that I could find from using Techron Plus to the GM fuel cleaner to just replacing the fuel level sensor at about 100.00 or so. My truck has 54000 miles and the pump at 450.00 on the web. I think the pump is still in good shape. As I stated the gauge shows 1/4 tank still left but empty -no erratic bouncing from full to empty which leads me to believe the float is the the problem! I'm by no means a mechanic so any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Would it be smart to just replace just the level sensor or the whole assembly pump and all? Thanks.
