Average cost for a fuel pump replacement is any where from $600.00 to $700.00 at a GM dealer. The price ranges from only the fuel pump sending unit to replacing the fuel lines also if there is corrosion.

Good luck and keep us posted and don't forget to replace the wire harness from the sending unit to the frame. ;)

wow thats crazy 1300 bucks!!!...You need to call around, someone has got to have one cheaper...try northernautoparts.com

I just had one put in my 2000 jimmy. $1100. Only reason the shop did it is because I could not get it into my garage from the roll back. Pump $450 from Advance, rest labor.

For some reason now noticed my gas milage dropped about 2 mpg

wow guys!! You really need to shop around...The fuel pump should be around $250.00 from Airtex @ northernautoparts....

Oreilly's and autozone carry them. If its a 4 dr 4x4 will be around 200 or so. My 2dr 2wd was 360.

When I had mine replaced it was 475$ and that was a factory pump and done at the dealer. Granted it was a long time ago but for fuel pumps i ONLY buy the factory ones. Truck is a 1995 GMC Jimmy
Ive tried the aftermarket ones on different vehicles Ive owned and after doing the job 2-3 x due to crappy china made junk I just buy factory parts now especially alternators and fuel pumps

As other posters have stated, go to O'Reilly's and get the pump thru them.
Should be in the area of $250. You'll get a lifetime warranty on it. I'm on the 3rd fuel pump for my 97 Jimmy. Buy the pump, take it to a GOOD neighborhood mechanic and have them change it out. That's what I do. I had a nationally known auto repair franchisee want to change it for me. He quoted me $850.00 for the part & labor. Then I realized I had a warranty on the #2 fuel pump which went bad. I got another fuel pump and brought the old one back after replacement. The nationally known auto repair franchisee charged me $350 for labor. He was going to charge me $500 for a part which I got basically for free(I had to pay the difference between the original cost and the new cost due to inflation).

Just had my fuel pump changed out for $955.00 at a dealer.

I just had to buy a fuel pump and sender not long ago because my hanger / sending unit was rusted out. If your hanger is still in good condition then you can just buy the pump by itself which is only around $100 at O'Reillys.

I checked Autozone but I dont believe they sell it without the hanger.

The easiest way to change it out and they way I did it was to cut a hole in the floor of the truck, if you have a 4 door this hole will be right under the rear seat behind the driver. What you do is go under the truck and drill some small holes with a drill to mark how big the hole will need to be, so drill one hole in each corner of where your hole will need to be. Then put a wet towel on top of the fuel tank, now from inside the truck you can use a 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel and cut out your hole.

To seal everything back up what you want to do is buy some aluminum tape and heavy duty gorilla tape with some black silicone. You use the aluminum tape around the edges of the panel you cut out because of it's strength and seal it from under neath with the silicone, then finalize it inside the truck with the gorilla tape.

Good luck
