Hello, new here so.......

I have a 2002 GMC 2500HD Turbo Diesel, now my issue is the gas gauge stopped working out of no where. I have been told sending unit etc, but was wondering if any of you have had the same issue and solved it.

Thanks

We've seen many complaints on the forum about fuel gauge problems. I have a gauge problem on my own 2000 GMC Sierra gasoline engined truck. The usual suggestions are (1) a bad sending unit in the tank (2) a bad ground strap connection from the top of the tank to the frame (3) a bad "stepper motor", which is the actual dashboard gauge . There may be a problem unique to diesels , and perhaps someone else can advise you on that.

Well I filled it right up today. It actually jumps back and forth, it does though as I put on 100 miles work, as it goes down when it is working. But then out of nowhere the needle drops to empty, then it jumps back to whatever amount of gas is in it.

Now from research this doesn't seem like the sending unit as it is sending the proper info. It seems that either the gauge itself is messed up or a ground is messed up. Now I just need to figure out which one.
