Can someone give me an idea of how many kilometers I should be getting from a full tank. I drive it pretty easy.
4.3L Auto 4x4 SLE .Regular fuel.

I get about 180km on 20 liters on my jimmy from Cambridge,On to Toronto,On round trip constant, but i have mod out my Jimmy so you should be around the same area and i have to run the 92 octane min or i have problems. Changed rocker ratio, removed the throttle blade restriction plate, removed the particle screen on the MAF sensor, K&N filter, high flow cat, 2.5" cat back single exhaust and Dyno tuned to 195kph, and running 255/60-15 for tires all the way around and replace the transfer case with BW4472 AWD for a full time use wet or dry pavement.

Stock with my 2000 slt jimmy, I get between 20-22mpg according to the instant economy meter. Which is thankfully perfect because the US had that cash for clunkers program and these things don't fall into the category of getting killed since their mileage is above 17mpg.

I have a 98 Jimmy SLS V6 4x4, I get about 18-20 miles to the gallon, I don't drive it hard even though at times I do have a lead foot. I did go 1 1/2 weeks on a full tank and was surprised. I know that once I get it completely in tune and all, that I can get it running much better. Had a recent idler arm fixed which helps keep it on the road, so that helped with fuel consumption too. Now if only the price of gas would go down...its near $3 here in upstate NY. Would putting premium gas in Jimmy help it out?

I checked out the particle screen on my MAF the other day and it was absolutely spotless. Will removing that really give better mileage and/or HP??
What does removing the throttle blade restriction plate do?

It give you more throttle responds on the bottom end. You will notice an improvement on your throttle responds and need to get used to it and you may want to buy a B&M shiftPluse electronic improver if you can not Dyno tune your engine and transmission to recalibrate the extra HP on the bottom end.

The Shiftpluse firms up your shift by having the EPC in the transmission raise the transmission pressure higher at a lower RPM on your engine, takes about 15 min to install and coast around $45.00 B&M part#70380 and has three setting to your preference. You can do the same buy spending around $3.00 for a 12V 6.5 ohm resistor and slicing it to your EPC transmission harness lead wire from the ECM, but you can't turn that on and off or have the different setting.

I did swap out the rocker ratio on the jimmy to 6.1:1 from the stock 5.1:1 and with the dyno tune has made a big difference in the 4.3. Good luck and keep me posted, Most of the guys around here that i have removed the throttle body blade restriction plate and took the screen off the MAF seem to enjoy driving there Jimmy's and Blazer and S10.

Most have commented that the gas peddle doesn't seem like it's delayed anymore. You can try with removing the screen from the MAF first since the weather out side is bad and that's the easy thing to do, and here is a link that can sell you a modified throttle body blade if you like to keep yours as a spare or pick one up at the Salvage yard for $5.00 and take the baffle plate off. http://www.cfm-tech.com/chevy-vortec.htm

Removing the screen in the MAF I can handle (mechanically) but, will I notice any difference without altering the blade.
As far as changing the transmission pressure and such, that's way out
of my league.

You'll find a difference, but you'll find more with altering the throttle blade. Start with the removal of the screen and go from there, as for the B&M Shift Plus. You can do that your self, the Kit has the step by step instruction and all you really need is a pair of pliers to hook it up. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get more out of your ride. Here is a link for the B&M shift plus, I have also installed it in to my wifes Montana and a few of the guys here have them installed on there Cavaliers and Cobalt. http://www.bmracing.com/SPECIALS/ShiftPlus-electronic-Shift-Improver-for-GM

B&M Shift Improver-
3 position adjustable- Stock (no adjustment), Stage 1 (mildly firmer shifts) and Stage 2 (whiplash inducing shifts)
Located inside the car, can be mounted to the dash.
cheap, as low as $40

Directions says from the ECM to the transmission, Instructions will clarify:

A. Locate the RED WITH BLACK STRIPE wire and crimp it to the RED wire from the SHIFTPLUS+ using the supplied Scotchloc connector.

B. Locate the LIGHT BLUE WITH WHITE STRIPE wire and crim it to the BLACK wire from the SHIFTPLUS+ using the supplied Scotchloc connector

C. Locate and install switch settings in driver's area held on with double sided tape.

I will start with screen removal and maybe when weather is warmer I will get to the throttle blade.
Will any of these mods affect the stupid emissions tests we have to do in Ontario?

Nope, does not effect the emission test here in Ontario. Mine has been this way since 1996 when I picked up my Jimmy. Took me about one year to get everything done, but since then just playing around and replacing high mileage parts to keep my jimmy running 100% at best. Keep up the great work.
