Gmc canyon air conditioner not working properly?

I have a 2006 GMC canyon and it wasn't blowing air very strong so I got the R134 to recharge it. It said it was at 44psi when i was done, but after the compressor or something kicked on and off, it would jump to almost 60(which is the yellow color area) and then jump back down to the proper place. When I test drove it, it will blow cold air, then almost warm air, then back again. Did I break something or is there just too much in there?
