GMC introduced the 2016 Canyon diesel today – featuring an all-new powertrain that expands the Canyon’s already class-leading capabilities, including trailering capacity of up to 7,700 pounds (3,492 kg).

The new 2.8L Duramax diesel, SAE-certified at 181 horsepower (135 kW) and 369 lb-ft of torque (500 Nm), is estimated to deliver greater highway fuel economy than the Canyon’s segment-topping gas engines, and is the cleanest diesel truck engine ever from General Motors. It goes on sale this fall.

The Duramax Canyons are about to hit the roads. I have one on order due to be produced next week (December 21st week), is there anyone else out there have confirmation of Canyon/Colorado Duramax?

I picked up my new Canyon SLE Deisel from Everitt in Bryant Arkansas last month. Best truck I have ever owned! Except for one nagging problem: The stereo is horrible. While I did not get the upgraded Bose system I expected something decent from a six speaker system. The sound ALL comes from the front center dash area and there is no richness or stereo affect to the sound, sounds like a juke box. Adjusting the audio to the rear only progressively mutes the already tinny sound in front and you never hear the rear speakers at all until the very last possible adjustment, and then they sound as if they passed through 6 inches of memory foam first. I took it the the dealer here in San Antonio and the service manager said he "thinks is was designed that way". How profoundly disappointing. I'm 61 and don't hear as well as I used too, but this is just one crumby system. The muted diesel sound is infinitely more pleasurable to listen too! Spend the money on the upgrade. Otherwise the truck is the best purchase I've made in quite a while:-)

I have a '16 SLT with the upgraded Bose system. When listening to XM or radio it sounds like crap. No fidelity, no sound-stage. Similar to your report. However, when connected to an iPhone or plugging in a USB stick with audio, it's a whole new ball game. Actually sounds like stereo for a change with lots of bandwidth.
