I have been enjoying my GMC envoy XL 2003 since 2006, I have never been to a mechanic except to change brakes and oil. I am almost about to hit the 100k miles. Last weekend I went and changed my oil and all of a sudden. there is problems after problems. I have been hearing some noise when I start engine and when driving the gas seems hard or stall. I thought maybe it was the transmission oil so this morning I went and spent $175 to flush and change the transmission fluid. Whiles I was there, they told me my radiator ventilator is loose. So I went to a mechanic to take a look at it and he told me, I need a new water pump. My engine is not warming or heating. I could see the ventilator loose but it seems it is tight. so my question is what has ventilator got to do with water pump.

Im having problems with my buddies 03 Emvoy XL that ive been working on. Changed thermostat and all kinds of stuff is messed up now....you know what it is...these vehicles are very poorly designed. id never buy one.

The main reason behind excessive engine noise is fuel in the cylinders exploding.. So check out the fuel level..

so please tell me how do you check the fuel level in the cylinders.
Also i thought that exploding fuel in the cylinders is what makes the motor run.

ok about the engine noise. There nice motors don't think any diffent.

So if this happen right after a oil change maybe wrong filter. Most liky does not have a anti drain back valve in it.

Or maybe a little piston slap when cold would be nothing to worry about.

Decribe when you get the noise (temp) and how long it lasts.

The main purpose of water pump is to cool the engine and keep it safe. If you don't put water in the radiator, then there is no use of water pump.
