I have this brand new GMC Sierra, but i would like to know a way to get rid of the tire pressure light always popping up. i intend to change the tire size and the tire shops told me that if i change the size the tire pressure might reduce lower than 60 psi and the light would remain on as there are sensors in my tire set to be at 60 psi. Can anyone help. I want this light to go away. its bothering me.

The valve stem is the sensor. As for 60psi? The vehicle is programmed for the recommended tire pressure on the door jamb sticker. If its a 1500, its 35 psi.

The TPMS are federally mandated safety devices (thank the Ford Explorer and the Firestone Tire fiasco years ago) and disabling them can be a pita. I have no idea how to do that. The body control module is programmed and removing them will not eliminate the warning light. A GM dealer will not disable it for liability reasons. Also you might find most reputable tire shops that don't want to get involved in that as well, its possible they could be breaking the law the depending on the country, state, province etc. Anyone (besides the owner) assumes all liability when removing or altering safety and emission devices. So you are left to your own devices to figure it out. Just a little story, local Goodyear dealer will no longer install any tires on a vehicle that are not the recommended tire size. Looong stort short. They got sued a few years bach when they sold and installed big tires and wheels on this young guys truck he got from his parents. Soon after he was involved in a accident that resulted in him be permanently disabled. The family sued the tire shop for negligence claiming they knowingly installed the wrong tires and wheels and that resulted in the accident, lost controll when off road and rolled over several times. It put the onwer out of business and know its owned by someone else. Shops are scarred to death of these law suits.
