I am going to change the head gaskets on my 2003 Sierra 5.3L. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the tightening sequence is and what the torque is suppose to be on the head bolts.

I am changing the gaskets because every 2 weeks or so I get the low coolant light, no visible leaks anywhere and its not wet on the passenger side for the heater core. It also will hardly idle it surges and almost dies which makes me think it's leaking into the cylinders. No noticeable water in oil.

right or wrong???

sounds like heads but check to make sure your tranny fluid is not over full like its leaking in from your radiator

i had problems with factory gaskets on my 96 sierra and my 99 yukon.mechanic said the problem was notorious on the factory gaskets.water was not leaking outward but was being burnt off in the exhaust.placed new gaskets, drained and replaced oil with a sludge remover, redrained and replaced oil again.ok now...good luck
