2004, V8.... Change coolant about 6 months ago had no known problem until winter time.... takes forever for the temperature to reach normal operating (210) even then the heater is only blowing warm air... all the controls seem to work just very little heat... anyone else have this problem????

Checked out the heater hoses... at operating temperature one hose is very hot the other is just warm.... is there a control valve under the dask that controls the flow in heater core???

Heater issue.

First like stated above check or change your thermostat. If that's ok check for any leaks in your system. If you get any air in there your heater hoses can get air locked. This was true in my 92' Sierra.

My fix. You buy a flush kit from your local auto parts store and package of rubber caps (mine came in a package of assorted sizes). Install the correct fitting on the heater hose between the engine wall and the engine. Cap the side of the fitting leading to engine. Install your water hose and flush back until you get steady flow coming out of the radiator. Remove rubber cap and install engine side of hose. Flush again. Recap flush fitting and start your truck checking the heater.

IF this works you need to find the leak culprit. I had a hole inside the radiator housing on an inner tube (don't ask me how) so I had the replace it.

Got it working.... bought two flushing tees put one in each heater hose... flushed out the heater core in both directions then filled system with the tee on one side and vented the cap on the other side to remove air.... works great now so it was either plugged or air locked....
