Hi Im new here and would begin to introduce myself.
My name is Arnar
Im born in Iceland and live in Iceland,
I am a gm family enthusiast and as such i have a few chevrolets and Gmc´s.
One of my vehicles is a Gmc suburban k2500 ´97 4 wheel drive equipped with a 454 and 4l80e tranny.
my first question is, according to the suburbans rpo codes it has a front axle ratio of 3.64 and a rear axle ratio of 4.10 how can this be and work together ?
My second question is, I need to rebuild my front differential as it has shot pinion bearings and i need to know if i have the 8.25 ifs or the 9.25 (I know i have the bigger 10.5 rear end and it has 8 lug wheels, and according to the rpo codes it is the 8,600 lbs GVW rating)
I have owned the suburban 5 years now almost 6 i got if for a good price as it was an former naval station vehicle stationed on the us naval base here in Iceland and in Nothfolk before coming here, i was told it used to be a k-9 or k-11 unit vehicle.
It has been sitting for almost 2 years now because of the front diff and needing new tie rod ends but i want to get it back on tis feet and running.
When i first got the suburban I got a used K&N filter kit for it put in laser cut iridum spark plugs, 10.5 mm msd spark plug wires put on drilled and slotted front brake disks heavy duty brake pads got myself used dodge ram rims and spacers for the as the rims were with the wrong offset and put 32 inch wheels under it and aftermarket rear light and it´s one of the most enjoyable suv i have owned.
I have included some pic´s
With thanks any help would be appreciated
