I've got a 1998 GMC Suburban 2500 with a 7.4L engine that is just driving me crazy.
It has an antifreeze leak, which starts 2 days AFTER it is run a long distance. Meaning I can drive it the 60 miles to work and have no leak, drive it back home the 60 miles, park it and then 2 day slater have a wet spot about 1 foot wide and 3 feet long on the drive way.
If the truck is run a short distance it is a couple hours after it is shut off, but no where near the quantity of antifreeze like after the 2 days above.
I'm pretty sure of where the leak is coming from it's right at the junction of the passenger side head, the block and intake manifold and when using a pressure tester it's not very much that comes out at 16 psi and takes about 3 minutes under pressure before that even starts.
Can anyone help me with this, I don't want to pull the intake and heads off if I can avoid it. I have added Bar's Leak head gasket leak repair but it only seems to make a difference the first week or so and then right back to this intermittent leak.
Just to add more to this, there is no indication of antifreeze in the oil or even overheating as a result of any of the above weirdness. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marc
